Spot-Report: Sardinia Mar. 09

Day 1:

I couldn’t wait to get on the plane to Sardinia. So far, I haven’t been on the water for almost 2 months. Totally motivated and with lots of new ideas about new tricks in my head I got into the plane which started from Munich at 6 in the morning.
After the take off we got one of the most amazing sunrises I’ve ever seen, to see.
We arrived in Cagliari at noon. It took us a while to get all the stuff into the rental car. Finally we drove up to the northern part of the island. After a 4 hours trip in the overfilled car and a short stop at our house, we went out for a little session. It started pretty good. I was well powered on my 10 vegas and could do some nice tricks till heavy rains came over us and took the wind with it.

Day 2:

It didn’t start very exciting on the second day. We had about 10 Knots the whole day, which wasn’t very comfortable to ride. Back home from the little road trip searching for wind, we got pretty tired and went to bed early.

Day 3:

The forecast looked very nice. It should get about 18 Knots the whole day. We went to Algharo again and it wasn’t that much wind. I went out with my 12 and it was a really good session. After an hour the wind picked up. I took a smaller kite and it was an awesome two hours kiting. Not all, but most of my tricks went pretty good and I was super happy to get some action on the water again.

Day 4:

So far, we haven’t been that lucky with the wind and it shouldn’t get any better at this day. We started pretty early to drive to a spot at the eastern part of the island. San Theodoro. After one hour waiting for wind we changed plans and drove up to the north. We thought there might be wind in Porto Pollo. Unlucky, there wasn’t any wind again. After this long, exhausting day without wind, we could only hope for the next days to get some wind.

Day 5:

Again, the day started with a searching look into the forecast map. Finally we went to the western shore of the island. We came out of the mountains and lucky, the wind was already blowing. The spot was great. A big, amazing beach and flat water. The wind was a bit gusty but still ok. I managed to do most of my standard tricks out of the last season. Day by day, my level is increasing again. And the most important thing; It’s still so much fun to be on the wather.

Day 6:

We started pretty early after a small breakfast. The aim was Porto Pollo today. On the way we checked some pretty nice spots but there wasn’t enough wind to kite. So we kept on driving to the north of the island. Arrived in Porto Pollo, we took a small brake with a delicious cappuccino. The wind started to blow and so we went out as fast as we could. It was a nice session with the 12 Vegas. Really choppy but therefore the wind was amazing. I did some nice tricks again and had a big smile in the evening.

Day 7:

A small chance to catch some wind was still alive on this day. so we went to Porto Pollo again. Unlucky, the wind didn’t pick up that much as the day before but still there have been a few nice gusts to do some funny things on the water and at least some small jumps.

Day 8:

The forecast looked really good for the east coast of the island. Early, we decided to go to San Teodoro. After almost two hours driving from our home village Valledoria, we got a beautiful beach with lots of space to ride and amazing colours of the water in front of us. I took my 9m and had a super session out there. Almost all tricks worked pretty stable and I had a lot of fun. Finally we took some very nice shots. Hanging out a bit and relaxing on the beach completed this awesome day.

Day 9/10:

The last two days haven’t been that exciting. We didn’t get any wind. So we played a lot of golf in our garden at the apartment and had a lot of fun.

All in all we haven’t been very lucky with the wind but I still got some very good sessions and an almost perfect start into the new season. The kiting was getting better and better every single session, even it was just a light wind day.
