Season Kick Off - PKRA Dakhla

Coming into the first event of the year is always interesting. Everybody is training hard over the winter months and there are always some new, young faces joining the tour. This time, it didn't really go the way I wanted to. A 13th place wasn't the result I was hoping for the first event of the season!

Together with the Tack-Brothers from Belgium, I arrived a few days earlier in Morocco to get some training days in. Unfortunately, my bags got lost somewhere in Morocco and it took them 7 days until I finally had my own gear and cloths. No training days for me, as well because it wasn't really windy.

Luckily I was pre-seeded in the Main Event, so I didn't have to go into the Trials. A lot of good guys haven't been lucky in Trials and got kicked out early in the event. That showed that the level of riding was pretty insane!

The Single Elimination didn't go really well for me. I lost in the second round against Ariel Corniel. I didn't really find a good start in the heat and couldn't land my high scoring moves. In the end I lost by 2 points.

The next day, we went straight into the Double Elimination as the wind was on with 18-20 Knots every day. I was up against Sam Light from the UK in the first round. Sam is probably one of the top riders on tour with a huge style. I was able to put together some good moves and won the heat against Sam.

Round 2 was on, and I was facing brazil's Eudazio da Silva. I knew it's gonna be a hard one to beat. Unfortunately I lost in a close heat.

13th place was definately not the best result to start off a season, but it showed me what I have to work on to be on top of my game again in France for the next stop in the end of April.
